COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M has done a much better job in recent years of adding eye-catching architecture to the campus, what A&M’s forebearers from a half-century or so ago often didn’t do.
The latest example is springing up right across Joe Routt Boulevard from Kyle Field – the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center. Fans who’ve been in town for football games this fall and who will be in town on Saturday for Alabama and A&M have seen and will see a glass-heavy structure where old Cain Hall used to reside.
The idea of the hotel is to provide Aggies and others close, comfortable access to Kyle Field, and give A&M what it hasn’t had of late: A central place for conferences and reunions, because until now those have been spread out around campus.
A&M touts the new place, scheduled to open in time for next football season, as “a full-service luxury hotel experience in the heart of College Station.”
